But twelve grand extra for a comparably equipped car? Good lord, it only costs ten grand to upgrade from an S550 coupe to a convertible.
The 370Z doesn’t really interest me to begin with, but if I wanted one I’d want it as a convertible. And for that price, you could have a Mustang GT Convertible with 103 more horsepower and back seats. And the option of a manual.

No difference at all in spec, since that seems rather extreme? Over here the difference is €3200 ($3600).

And less MPG too.

I’m guessing you can only get the Convertible in the higher spec trims, so the comparable 350Z in the same trim is much closer in price.

You ever tried chopping a roof off of a car? I’ve witnessed such an endeavor, and saw the outcomes of not stiffening the rest of the body. Granted this was on a soviet ZAZ, but as soon as the roof was cut through, the floor started sagging in the middle. Probably had to do with the fact that this was a rear engined car so the floorboard was almost flat.
Not to say that it would cost 10 grand, but still.

Yeah, but the 370Z would look good, whereas the mustang gt would look like a bar of soap.

I hate convertibles. Last think I want is to bake in the sun when I’m trying to drive. I have a 240Z, but maybe someday I will get a 370 Nismo if the price is right.

Back into my hole I go.

I looked through the spec sheets, they appear the same.

Believe it or not, I actually checked that. The convertible offers fewer trims, but the base coupe and convertible seem the same.

I disagree.

As someone who drives with the windows down and sunroof open on nice days, I’d do a convertible.

Its the Porsche model; remove parts of the car and charge a premium for it.
The problem with trying that here is people put up with that because at the end of everything, they get a Porsche, not a datsun.

Pretty much every car company charges more for a convertible.

Wow. The 370Z hasn't really changed in price for so long.

The Z cars have always looked terrible as convertibles.

Thank you!

And more importantly, while the GT does have 103 more horsepower, that power is coming from a glorious Coyote V8 which is a million times better than that thrashy mutant Nissan VQ.

You got that flipped.
370Z’s are not attractive, and the convertible version is just plain repulsive.
Stangs are sexy with or without a roof.

You may say that, but I see no evidence of you having any aesthetic taste.

Says the guy who thinks a 370Z Convertible looks good.

To one who prefers a mustang convertible.
Maybe the best option would be something else entirely, something that actually looks nice...
